Implementing adaptative solutions in real estate projects
In April 2025, the OID - Observatoire de l'Immobilier Durable published the Guide to Action for Climate Change Adaptation, in association between its European programme (ESREI) and the OID adaptation team.
This guide proposes a practical approach to help real estate players anticipate and integrate climate risks and adaptation measures into their projects. This decision-making tool helps to implement an adaptation strategy by offering a variety of solutions and the essential information needed to apply them. Over the last few years, the OID has been working to produce tools such as Bat-ADAPT, available on our R4RE platform at the European level, as well as gathering feedback and recommendations to put together this comprehensive guide:
- 44 action sheets and 5 indispensable conditions for making buildings more resilient to hazards (flooding, heatwaves, storms, drought, etc.
- A systemic approach incorporating nature-based solutions (NbSA)
- A practical framework and monitoring indicators to meet the requirements of the European Taxonomy
- Keys to avoiding maladaptation and aligning adaptation strategies with local plans (at French level)
